The 2024 Anthony Awards were handed out August 31 at Bouchercon: Murder and Mayhem in Music City in Nashville, TN. It was my first Bouchercon, and I hope it won’t be my last. Bouchercon is an annual conference for readers and creators devoted to crime fiction. Their program stated that they are the largest and oldest fan convention in the world. And unlike the previous conferences I’ve attended that focused on writers, Bouchercon takes it readers very seriously. From having popular writers like Brad Thor, Harlan Coben, and Heather Graham, to having a breakfast for debut authors sponsored by Michael Connelly, Lee Child, and Andrew Child, they had something for any fan.

And the BOOKS. If you didn’t go home with boxes of new books, you weren’t trying. The publishers provided times for their authors to give away and sign their new books. What a great way to discover a new favorite writer.

All in all, the 2024 Bouchercon and Anthony Awards hit it out of the park for both the writer and reader in me.

Earlier I gave you a list of the finalists for the Anthony Awards, which is a great place to find your next favorite author. At the convention, the attendees voted on the winners.
